"Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14b
At Harvest we take very seriously our covenantal responsibilities to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Consequently, from infancy into their teen years and beyond, we seek to immerse our children in God's Word that it should be "...a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm119:105.
All classrooms are in the hallway adjacent to the Fellowship Hall and signs above the door identify the rooms by the age groups shown below.
Ages: Birth through Three
Our Nursery is dedicated to caring for our youngest covenant children in a safe, loving environment where they are exposed to God's Word through songs, stories, and prayer. The Nursery is available on Sunday morning during Corporate Worship and is open to children three years-old and under. For more information email our Nursery Coordinator.
Ages: Four through Six
As these younger, non-communing members of our church grow in the knowledge of God and His plan for their lives, they continue their Bible learning using curriculum from Great Commission Publications. They learn through interactive stories, crafts, and games with the goal of deepening their knowledge of God’s great love for them. This class is available during the Sunday School hour and is open to children between the ages of four and six.
Ages: Seven through Ten
As Scripture teaches, (Deut. 6; Proverbs 22:6) we are to instruct our children in the Word of the Lord so they may know and love Him. This class uses the Westminster Shorter Catechism to walk through the Scriptures and grow the children's understanding of Jesus and what it means to be saved. Each week we cover questions from the catechism and utilize Scripture to answer these questions. The children are assigned verses for memorization to be recited each week. This class is available during the Sunday School hour and is open to children between the ages of seven and ten.
Ages: Eleven and beyond...
Once reaching the age of eleven, our children are encouraged to progressively take their place in the community of believers here at Harvest. This includes not only being part of events designed especially for them and their peers, but also to more fully engage in the Adult/Teen Sunday School class, fellowship, and Corporate Worship. Our goal is to encourage and motivate them to become part of fulfilling the mission of our church, "... to glorify God through faithful worship and becoming equipped disciples of Jesus living lives of humble service and love in the church, the world, and their homes."
