“...and what you have heard from me… entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2
The Lord has not called His church merely to gather for inspiration, but to grow in truth. From Deuteronomy 6, where parents are commanded to teach God’s Word diligently to their children, to Ephesians 4, where Christ gives teachers to equip the saints for maturity, Scripture presents Christian instruction as a covenant responsibility. The Reformed tradition has always understood that the Lord’s Day is not only for worship but also for learning — for forming minds and hearts in sound doctrine so that faith is informed, resilient, and generational.
As John Calvin warned, the church will not last without catechetical instruction. Sunday School, therefore, is not a modern invention or optional program; it is a practical expression of our commitment to raise covenant children and strengthen adult believers in “the knowledge of the Son of God.” In a world of competing narratives, deliberate Christian education on the Lord’s Day is one of the chief means by which Christ builds a thoughtful, grounded, and steadfast church.

Adult/Teen Sunday School
J. Gresham Machen once said, "Christianity is not a feeling but a doctrine.” He argued that the church declines when doctrinal instruction declines--precisely why systematic Christian education is essential. The aim of our Adult/Teen Sunday School class then is to challenge every participant to not only learn God's Word at a basic/knowledge level, but to acquire the wisdom needed to apply it in their everyday lives. This time of instruction is focused on growing individual believers in the knowledge and love of God--to know more of Him, not just more about Him! This class is intended for believers from the age of 11 and beyond. It meets in the Sanctuary at 9:30 AM and is a great way to get your mind focused on the things of God prior to joining in His Corporate Worship.

Children's Christian Education
Harvest offers a complete program of children's christian education from nursery through age 10. Check out our Children's Ministry page for more information about our classes, where they meet, and how to get your children involved.
Our young people from the age of 11 on are encouraged to progressively take their place in the community of believers here at Harvest. This includes not only being part of events designed especially for them and their peers, but also to more fully engage in the Adult/Teen Sunday School class, fellowship, and Corporate Worship. Our goal is to enable, encourage, and motivate every member to become part of fulfilling the mission of our church, "... to glorify God through faithful worship and becoming equipped disciples of Jesus living lives of humble service and love in the church, the world, and their homes."
