THE GOSPEL IN A WORLD GONE WRONG - ROMANS 1

"...do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

What is Prayer?

The Westminster Shorter Catechism in Question 98 asks and answers this very question.

Question. 98. What is prayer?
Answer. Prayer is an offering up of our desires unto God, for things agreeable to his will, in the name of Christ, with confession of our sins, and thankful acknowledgment of his mercies.

We pray NOT to make God aware that we have needs--He already knows. We pray to acknowledge that He is sovereign and will provide for us regardless of our need according to His divine purpose.

At Harvest, we acknowledge prayer as one of the ordinary means of grace, God's regular and reliable ways of showing His love and steadfast care for us. As such, we encourage you to share your prayer requests with our Elders.

"And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart." Luke 18:1
