Tenebrae Service (John 19:30)

Grant Beachy, April 15, 2022
Part of the Not in a series series, preached at a Tenebrae Service service

Good Friday Service of Tenebrae – This Friday, beginning at 6pm. This service is an intentionally dark one. All the lights will be off in the sanctuary except for 7 candles at the front of the room. And even those are extinguished as we make our way through the service. It is a somber service meant to draw us into the brutal reality of Christ's suffering and death. While there are bulletins printed, I would encourage you to view the bulletin on your phone or even better a tablet. Since the room will be darker than normal, seeing printed words and following along may be a challenge. Two additional notes about this service: 1) There is no nursery. 2) Communion will be served.

30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, β€œIt is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
